Girl
Founded in 1993 by Mike Carroll and Rick Howard, Girl Skateboards was born out of the desire to create a skater-owned brand that prioritized the riders themselves. Carroll and Howard, both professional skateboarders, wanted to escape the corporate influences in the skate industry and provide a space where creativity and skate culture could thrive.
Girl quickly became known for its lighthearted yet impactful approach, with its iconic logo—a simplified "girl" bathroom symbol—becoming a symbol of skateboarding culture. The company set itself apart with innovative board designs, quality construction, and a close-knit team. Early videos like Goldfish (1994) and Yeah Right! (2003) are still considered classics in skate film history.
Over the years, Girl has built one of the most legendary teams in the sport. The roster has included icons like Eric Koston, Guy Mariano, and Sean Malto, alongside rising stars like Breana Geering—the first female to join the team in 2019. The team's current lineup features both veteran skaters and fresh talent, such as Niels Bennett, Griffin Gass, and Rowan Davis. This mix keeps the brand's legacy alive while continuing to push skateboarding into new directions.
Girl Skateboards remains at the forefront of the skateboarding world, balancing a commitment to creativity, quality, and the culture of skateboarding itself. Through it all, the brand has stayed true to its roots—built by skaters, for skaters
